As a non-profit organization, we were thrilled when Amazon launched AmazonSmile in 2013 as a way for customers to support their favorite charities with ease. We have relied on the program to help fund our mission and make a positive impact in our community. Unfortunately, the program has not grown to create the impact that Amazon had originally hoped, and they have announced their plans to wind down AmazonSmile by February 20, 2023.
While this news may come as a disappointment to many non-profits, including ourselves, Amazon is trying to make the transition as smooth as possible. To help organizations that have been a part of the AmazonSmile program, Amazon will be providing a one-time donation equivalent to three months of what was earned in 2022, and organizations will still be able to accrue additional donations until the program officially closes in February.
After AmazonSmile closes, charities will still be able to seek support from Amazon customers by creating their own wish lists. We encourage our supporters to continue helping us make a positive impact in our community through other means.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported us through the AmazonSmile program over the years. While the end of AmazonSmile marks the end of an era, we are confident that with your continued support, we will be able to continue making a difference in Fauquier preschool education.
