A Box of Books for Head Start

Fauquier's Head Start classroom received a 'Box of Books' sponsored by the non-profit Learning Starts Early. HS Executive Director Pat Washington was happy to receive the eight bright boxes from LSE representatives Bob Dart, Eileen Burgwyn and Maria Del Rosso.

There are 25 paperback picture books are in each box. The paperbacks feature classic titles, familiar characters, award winners, and new favorites. All the books are handpicked by Fauquier Library youth services staff.

The books are divided among the boxes. They include a laminated list, so the titles can be tracked by a teacher or aide and later on swapped.

Want to lend a hand? LSE’s Reading Buddies program, which began in 2016, provides readers for Head Start classrooms at Central Complex Building C, Mary Walter Elementary School, and H. M. Pearson Elementary School. The children look forward to having the Reading Buddies come to their classrooms, and many request favorite books be reread again and again.

If you would like to become a Reading Buddy, please complete the volunteer form. Volunteer opportunities will be posted on our website in the future. https://www.learningstartsearly.org/
