Funds to benefit early childhood education through Learning Starts Early, a 501 © (3) nonprofit corporation.

COVID-19 Statement

Learning Starts Early, Inc. (LSE), believes that all children deserve access to quality preschool experiences, especially during this difficult time.  We join the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in expressing our “particular concern about the significant impact this public health crisis is likely to have on our nation’s child care and early learning programs” (“Coping with COVID19” naeyc.org). Educational opportunity gaps are widening on top of chronic challenges already faced by children from low-income families.

Every contribution to LSE makes a difference in the lives of our children.

Our Mission

LSE is committed to preparing every preschool-aged child in Fauquier County to meet challenges in kindergarten and beyond.

Learning Starts Early (LSE, Inc.) began as a ministry of Saint James’ Episcopal Church & School. As of the spring of 2019, it is now an independent nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. The main focus of Learning Starts Early is to provide tuition assistance for eligible prekindergarten children to attend high-quality private preschools in Fauquier County.

LSE’s Reading Buddies program, which began in 2016, provides readers for classrooms at Central, Mary Walter Elementary School, and H. M. Pearson Elementary School.

LSE’s Reading Buddies program, which began in 2016, provides readers for Head Start classrooms at Central Complex Building C, Mary Walter Elementary School, and H. M. Pearson Elementary School. The children look forward to having the Reading Buddies come to their classrooms and many request favorite books be reread again and again.
