Preschool Education for Every Child in Fauquier County

LSE Has Been Busy!

In addition to providing preschool tuition assistance to families in need, LSE has been working with Fauquier County Public Schools’ Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) to provide enrichment experiences for the children. In April, LSE funded a field trip for VPI students from Coleman Elementary to visit the Shenandoah Discovery Museum in Winchester where preschoolers could explore the hands-on exhibits. According to one student, it was “the best day ever!” A teacher commented that the trip was the “perfect experience of learning through play with four levels of hands-on learning fun.”

Plans are already underway to reboot our Play with Purpose summer program in collaboration with FRESH on Wheels. Preschoolers will receive free books and activity kits provided by LSE in partnership with a grant from the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation.

Our Mission

LSE is committed to preparing every preschool-aged child in Fauquier County to meet challenges in kindergarten and beyond.

Learning Starts Early (LSE, Inc.) began as a ministry of Saint James’ Episcopal Church & School. As of the spring of 2019, it is now an independent nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. The main focus of Learning Starts Early is to provide tuition assistance for eligible prekindergarten children to attend high-quality private preschools in Fauquier County.

LSE’s Reading Buddies program, which began in 2016, provides readers for classrooms at Central, Mary Walter Elementary School, and H. M. Pearson Elementary School.
